Statement

Date: July 5, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA) released the following statement after she was named a conferee to the final House and Senate negotiations of the National Defense Authorization Act:

"This week I was named a conferee for the National Defense Authorization Act," said Congresswoman Barbara Comstock. "This is an important opportunity to work with my colleagues in the House and Senate to rebuild our military and continue our ongoing work protecting our veterans. I appreciate Speaker Ryan naming me a conferee to this legislation that is so critical to our ongoing work to keep our country safe and our national security infrastructure strong. We know the sequestration cuts from the last Administration have to stop and rebuilding our military is a top priority."

"Congresswoman Comstock has been a consistent champion for our armed forces. She understands that the ability to protect our homeland and our way of life begins with a strong national defense. Because of that, Barbara has been instrumental in helping rebuild our military over the past two years," said House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry. "Congresswoman Comstock is an important addition to our NDAA Conference Committee, and will be a strong voice advocating for our men and women in uniform and keeping America safe."
